What is the net coverage of 36 inch wide steel roof deck?

Answer: 36 inches!

Those of you who are familiar with exposed roofing and siding panels know that architectural panels are typically priced on an overall panel width that is sometimes 2 inches or more larger than the net coverage.

In the structural decking world, we like to keep things simple: the only width that is published and used to determine the area for pricing is the net cover width. When we say that Type B roof deck is 36” wide, we mean that you will cover 36” of your roof with each sheet when the side lap is nested as shown below:
